Support at Home

The Commonwealth program that funds in-home aged care services under the Aged Care Act, replacing the earlier Home Care Packages.

NDIS Practice Standards

The quality standards that registered NDIS providers must meet, audited by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.

Serious Incident Response Scheme

The aged care scheme under which providers must report serious incidents involving care recipients to the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission within set timeframes.

Reportable Conduct Scheme

The Victorian scheme requiring organisations to notify the Commission for Children and Young People of allegations of child abuse or misconduct by their workers.

Restrictive practice

Any practice that restricts a person's rights or freedom of movement, such as seclusion, chemical, mechanical, physical or environmental restraint, which must be authorised and reported.

Behaviour support plan

A plan written by a registered behaviour support practitioner that sets out strategies to meet a person's needs and reduce behaviours of concern.

Dignity of risk

A person's right to make choices that carry risk, with the supports they agree to, rather than having choices removed for their protection.

Supported decision making

Helping a person make and communicate their own decisions rather than making decisions for them.

Mandatory reporting

The legal duty of certain workers to report a reasonable belief that a child needs protection from physical injury or sexual abuse.

Progress note

A dated, objective record of contact with a client that describes what happened, what the person said and any follow up required.
